I really enjoyed 'Beta'. It was a darker read than most young adult novels, considering the mature themes involved. It contains violence, sex, a rape scene (although there is no specific description), and drug usage. It IS part of the story to describe the elitists of the island, rather than just a controversial talking point. Well written. I simply couldn't put it down.
